Eye Screening Exams

Animal Eye Clinic of Waterloo Region image

What does OFA mean?

OFA is an organization set up in the USA to maintain a registry of eye examinations performed on registered dogs. This allows people to see the health status of animals they may want to breed their dog with.

There are equivalent organizations around the world and you should consider these if you are planning on bringing a dog into Canada.

Australia - Australian Canine Eye Scheme

Great Britain - British Veterinary Association Eye Scheme

Europe - European College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists Eye Scheme

Where can I get an OFA Eye exam for my dog?

Dr. Whelan regularly performs OFA exams at predetermined clinics around Ontario.
